Music by Robert Ampt arranged and composed for Christmas at the Sydney Town Hall

This CD offers, for the first time, a selection of Robert Ampt’s Christmas music, most of which received its first performance in the Sydney Town Hall. Christmas at the Sydney Town Hall, presented annually by the City of Sydney, brings together a massed choir, children’s choir, vocal and instrumental soloists, brass and percussion players, and the legendary William Hill and Son pipe organ played by Ampt. Robert worked with us at St John's Cathedral to recreate the magic on this recording.

Canticum's annual Good Friday Musical Meditations at St John's Cathedral was an integral part of Brisbane's musical and spiritual life for many years, before moving to a new venue in Rosalie. This collection of sacred choral works has taken the name "Soul Journey" because it suggested such a journey in many different ways. It certainly has been a musical journey for Canticum and we hope it will be so for our listeners!
