We are absolutely thrilled that Canticum Chamber Choir and Brisbane Chorale will be joining forces with Queensland Ballet for their 2026 season of the monumental Messa da Requiem — Verdi’s breathtaking masterpiece of drama and devotion.

More than 100 voices will unite with Queensland Ballet and Queensland Symphony Orchestra to bring this extraordinary work to life for Brisbane audiences from 27 March - 4 April 2026.

Adding to the excitement, this will be the inaugural performance season to grace the stage of QPAC’s stunning new Glasshouse Theatre — a truly historic moment for the arts in Queensland.

The Sacred Veil, scored for choir, piano and cello, is a collaboration between Eric Whitacre and poet/lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri. Silvestri’s wife, Julie, died of ovarian cancer in 2005 aged 36, leaving two young children. Texts from Silvestri, Julie, and Whitacre, enhanced by compelling music, tell a story of love, loss and the search for solace. Although inspired by a moving and personal friendship, the work shares a very human journey that many can relate to.

NOTE: Some texts in this work are confronting, and include medical details of a terminal ovarian cancer diagnosis. While this may be challenging for some, we welcome the opportunity to raise awareness of this serious illness. QR links will be provided for patrons to make donations to appropriate charities and research institutions should they wish to.

Canticum Chamber Choir with conductor Emily Cox welcomes renowned cellist Louise King, and pianist Cara Tran as we present this intimate work in the warm acoustic of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rosalie, on Friday 18 September, and the heritage listed St Mary's Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point, on Sunday 20 September. Drinks and nibbles will be available after each concert.
We are proud to support Ovarian Cancer Australia, with 10% of ticket sales going to this vital cause.
