Canticum is pleased to present a concert of inspirational music for Holy Week in the magnificently resonant yet intimate acoustic of Sacred Heart, a perfect space for musical reflection. Well-known and lesser-known choral masterpieces await the listener, with Ralph Vaughan Williams’ soaring Mass in G Minor the core of the programme, complemented perfectly by a selection of Renaissance motets by Victoria and others, and the compelling modern work O Crux by Knut Nystedt.

Canticum performs a stunning programme of evocative a cappella music by composers from the last 2 centuries: Rautavaara (Die Erste Elegie), Mäntyjärvi (Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae), Whitacre (Lux aurumque), with works by Thompson, Elgar, Rutter (A Ukrainian Prayer) and others.
