Love and Light - Music by Monteverdi and Lauridsen
Sunday 10 September, 3:00pm
St Stephens Cathedral, 249 Elizabeth Street
Canticum performs passionate secular and sacred works by Claudio Monteverdi and Morten Lauridsen which, although separated by many centuries, are connected by common themes of love, light and loss. We celebrate the 450th anniversary this year of the birth of Monteverdi with two of his characteristically buoyant and intense works, Beatus Vir and Sestina, from the Sixth Book of Madrigals. Also featured in this concert are Lauridsen's appealing and timeless works Lux Aeterna and the Six Fire Songs on Italian Renaissance Poems. For more information click here.
