Ann Street, Brisbane

Margaret Schindler: soprano arias
Georgia Hawes: alto arias

Canticum was delighted to present J.S. Bach's immortal work for Good Friday 2004. An outstanding team of instrumental musicians and soloists, including Gregory Massingham in the role of the Evangelist, collaborated with Canticum in a special muscial offering of one of the most moving and dramatic works in the sacred choral repertoire.
"For ten years, Emily Cox has created mystical experiences with her Good Friday musical meditations at St John's Cathedral but topped them all this year with a beautifully modulated and transparent performance by Canticum of Bach's "Passion according to St John", still a stunner after 300 years."

Gustav Holst "The Planets"
Friday 21 May 2004 8:00 pm
Concert Hall, Queensland Performing Arts Centre
Heavens Above - Concert 3 of the The Queensland Orchestra Maestro Series conducted by Michael Christie with the Women of Canticum.
"Holst's The Planets Suite had plenty of huff and puff in the lively movements and was suitably subdued in the mystical. The unseen Canticum choir sang and ethereal and seamless transition from Holst's final section Neptune to Pluto added by Colin Matthews, born 12 years after Holst died. Its quiet mood and ominous drumming brought the work full circle."
