St John's Cathedral, Ann Street, Brisbane
After the success of the production of Passion in Cathedrals Week 1999, Queensland Ballet created another new work combining ballet, chorus and orchestra for Cathedrals Week 2002.
St Francis of Assisi tells the story of this inspirational man whose credo was simplicity, poverty and humility, and who was even perhaps the world's first environmentalist. Combined with original choreography by Paul Boyd, the choral and orchestral music of St Francis of Assisi brings to life the drama and spirituality of St Francis' life.

In this year, the 100th anniversary of Maurice Duruflé's birth, Canticum presented one of his most revered works. A most comforting and inspiring setting of the Requiem, it is based on the flexible rhythms and melodies of Gregorian chant, and the colourful harmonies of French Romantic music. Duruflé's own version of his masterwork, scored for choir and organ, displays these forces in an array of textures, from the most intimate to the most powerful.
