Media Vita
Saturday 26 September; Sunday 27 September 1998
St Mary's Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane
This concert took its name from a new work by Brisbane composer Peter Rankine. It is scored for choir, clarinet, bass trombone and percussion. Based on the turbulence of spirit and physical world in Shakespeare's play The Tempest, Media Vita was partnered with vivid works from the most northern latitudes, a special interest of our conductor. The intensity of these pieces was balanced by recent music by Canticum member Ian McKinley, capturing the mood of an Australian day.
