Inspiration! A composer receives it, and passes it on to the listener! J. S. Bach’s music is at the cornerstone of all choral music and has passed the test of time with flying colours.

Canticum Chamber Choir (Emily Cox, conductor) presents a kaleidoscope of music that ties together “then and now” – what inspired Bach, and what he passed on to our day. Two of Bach’s magnificent motets join with works from the renaissance (Palestrina) and the present day, including works by Queensland-born composer Joseph Twist and others.

Associate artists Christopher Wrench (organ) and Katherine Philp (cello) will join Canticum in the creative and atmospheric space of historic St Mary’s on the Cliffs at Kangaroo Point. Join the artists for refreshments overlooking the city after the concert, to cap off a memorable musical afternoon – Bach with a Twist.

Canticum is undertaking a major project to raise funds for the purchase of a chamber pipe organ for their use in presenting baroque music and to share with other musical ensembles in Southeast Queensland. Bach with a Twist will be a special celebration of this exciting project.

Presented in conjunction with Music @ St Mary’s. Amateur review of the concert.
