About Emily Cox
EMILY COX has earned a reputation as one of the leading figures in the Australian choral music scene. She is Canticum's founding Music Director and is Music Director of the Brisbane Chorale. Lecturer in choral studies at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, Emily teaches conducting and directs the Conservatorium Chamber Choir, and is also Choir Director at St Mary's Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point where she and organist Christopher Wrench oversee a vibrant music programme.
As a conductor and chorus master with a broad repertoire, Emily's work is in demand with professional performing arts companies and major arts festivals. Through Canticum's concert series, as well as through the repertoire that she explores with her other ensembles, she has introduced Australian audiences to many unusual and beautiful works. A graduate of Dartmouth College (U.S.A.) and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Emily has had further training overseas with noted choral specialists such as Eric Ericson and Frieder Bernius, and is known for her work as a festival and workshop director, adjudicator and educator for all age groups.
